ACCOMMODATION IN  MØLLESTIEN

No. 49 & No. 51

Møllestien (the mill lane) is a picturesque cobbled street right in the centre of the city of Aarhus, Denmark’s second largest city. It is regarded by many as being the most beautiful street in Aarhus. The hollyhocks and rambling roses race each other to grow up against the tiny old half-timbered houses with their small-paned windows. Most of the houses were built in the 18th century and the whole street exudes ancient charm. The street itself has existed even longer – an archaeological dig in 2003 revealed pottery shards which were dated to the early middle ages – the time of the Vikings.49-51-front
Møllestien 49 and 51 are the two smallest houses in the street (40 square metres is the total area of each house!). The ground floor has a kitchen, a bathroom and a living room and there is a bedroom on the 1st floor. (NB the staircase to the first floor is rather steep). Both houses have a little south-facing garden with garden furniture and an outdoor grill amid the flowerbeds.

Møllestien is situated in the centre of the city, only a few minutes walk from the cathedral, the art museum (Aros) and other attractions. Restaurants, a department store, supermarkets and greengrocers are also close by.

Number 49 has been retained in the original old style. There is a double bed on the first floor and there is a loft sleeping space for 1 or 2 children. It is also possible to sleep on a guest bed on the ground floor. The price is 900 Danish kroner per night (5,400 Danish kroner per week) for 2 persons including bed linen and towels. Extra persons cost 300 kroner per adult per night or 200 kroner per child. A stay for just one night costs 300 kroner extra.

Number 51 has recently been totally renovated. There is a double bed on the first floor and a small loft sleeping space for a child. It is also possible to sleep on a guest bed on the ground floor. This house also has a washing machine for clothes. The price is 1,000 Danish kroner per night (6,000 Danish kroner per week) for 2 persons including bed linen and towels. Extra persons cost 300 kroner per adult per night or 200 kroner per child. A stay for just one night costs 300 kroner extra.

Both houses are non-smoking houses but you can smoke in the garden. Dogs are allowed in number 49 (100 kroner per night) but not in number 51

There is one parking space available in a locked car park at a cost of 200 kroner per day. The normal parking charge in this area is about 280 kroner per day.
